We love Melrose — the quiet roads, the lakes, the trees, the small-town feel where people wave as they pass. It’s a special place, and that’s why we’ve come together to protect it.
Melrose is unique. Our community doesn’t sit within just one county — it spans across Alachua County, Putnam County, Clay County, and Bradford County. That means decisions affecting our daily lives — from land use and development to traffic, safety, and environmental protection — can come from multiple directions at once.
Because of this, it’s more important than ever that we stay informed — not just about what’s happening in one county, but in all four.
Lately, there’s been discussion around large-scale events and development in and around Melrose. While we all appreciate music, creativity, and community gatherings, we also recognize that not every project is the right fit for a rural area like ours. Our roads, infrastructure, and natural environment were never designed for large commercial-scale activity.
We’re not against growth or new ideas — we simply believe that any changes should respect the character of our community and the people who call it home. Without awareness and coordination, it’s easy for decisions to be made piece by piece across different counties — without ever fully considering what’s best for Melrose as a whole.
That’s why staying informed matters.
By following what’s happening in each county, attending meetings, sharing information, and supporting one another, we can make sure our voices are heard — and that Melrose remains the kind of place we all love.
If you care about protecting our rural character, preserving our environment, and keeping Melrose a safe and peaceful place to live, we invite you to stay engaged.
Together, as one community across four counties, we can help guide thoughtful decisions and protect what makes Melrose, Melrose.
With appreciation,
Connecting Melrose
